The biography of Godfrey Hounsfield is based on private communications from his friends, family and former colleagues, supplemented by study of an archive of documents from the 1970s belonging to EMI.

An electronic archive was prepared in 2005 with copies held by EMI, The British Institute of Radiology, The Royal Society, and individuals including the authors of the biography of Godfrey. That archive is currently being updated.

Appendices 1 and 2 of the biography give details of published sources. Although there are many others, the authors believe that they all stem from the same root which was the material published by EMI in the 1970s.
